About Us

Autumn at Anchors Rest

The very best season has begun: Durban’s winter sunshine is coming soon, and the waves are lapping at our feet, oceanside, as the heat of summer slinks away from us. We’re so excited to celebrate that little chill in the air as we enjoy Autumn at Anchor’s Rest.

The Easter weekend is behind us, and as a typically quieter season settles over Durban, we’re excited for the cooler days and longer evenings.

This is the season where Umhlanga looks inward, and works hard to finish big projects that set us up for another great summer. While it’s considered a typically ‘low’ season, we’re still busy welcoming our much-loved guests to Anchor’s Rest!

This is the best time to visit Durban. While the summer crowds may tell you to book your holiday during the hot months, it’s the winter sunshine that really makes Durban great. We’re not chilly to the point of frozen phalanges around here. Rather, it’s cool and temperate, and not too humid for that hot chocolate!

Visiting Umhlanga now is a true treat, as the beaches are quieter. All the better for those long walks along the promenade, and enjoying a lazy lunch by the sea. You’ll find us with the dogs, Benson and Jade, enjoying this very special time of year, nearly every day along the shoreline.

During April 2018, the incredible Durban-based image consultant, Style Me Image Consulting, hosted the Style Me Extravaganza on 13 and 17 April, in Hillcrest and Mount Edgecombe. As part of this fantastic event, Style Me held a raffle, to raise funds for the Community Outreach Program Trust. We’re very happy to have contributed two prizes to this fabulous event, and to have helped Style Me raise funds for this exceptional cause.

We love hearing from you, and learning more about your Anchor’s Rest experience. If you’d like to drop us a line, you can email Cilla here. Alternatively, post a review and let the world know about your Anchor’s Rest adventures. You’ll find our establishment listed on AfristayTrip Advisor, and more!
